We are hiring for the NSDRC’s newest community resource, the Mobile Multi-Sensory Room. The mobile room will be used for both in-person experiences and as a community engagement tool. A session in the multi-sensory environment is designed to be user-led, in order to experience self-choice and explore the cause-effect nature of the room. The role of the facilitator is to guide, support, engage, and encourage interaction between the user, their support network, and the equipment within the space. The multi-sensory environment can be used to: increase user engagement and interaction; provide calming input for users who have high levels of anxiety; provide stimulating sensory input; and provide an opportunity to receive sensory stimulation for the more passive individual who may not be receiving sufficient sensory stimulation in natural contexts.
