To our sponsors, participants, staff and community, we want to thank you for your support of our first Building Better Communities Luncheon. We surpassed our expectations on funds raised for our Information and Advocacy program! We appreciate everyone’s support! We look forward to hosting this important event in 2026!
Our events help bring us together to raise funds to support participants in programs and services that rely on donations and fundraising. Let's work together to help people with disabilities live with dignity, freedom and joy. Our events are open to anyone.
Our 2025 luncheon is a fundraiser in support of the North Shore Disability Resource Centre's Information & Advocacy Program. This program is a valuable resource for information about programs and services for people with disabilities, their caregivers and families. This program is a vital part of the North Shore Disability Resource Centre and our community. Often the first point of contact for families and caregivers, this program does not receive any direct funding from government organizations. We invite you to attend our luncheon and help us raise funds to support the Information & Advocacy Program.
We are excited to announce Katie Jameson as our Keynote Speaker!
Katie is a community advocate, outspoken storyteller and writer who weaves joy and grief into everyday moments. With the birth of her first daughter Kenzie, Katie and her family also welcomed a beautiful shift into the world of Down Syndrome and non-speaking autism. Katie is a founding member of Down syndrome BC (DSBC), and the co-creator of an Adaptive Soccer Program in Vancouver.
Katie's Topic:
Welcome to Holland: Tulips Thrive When Communities Grow Them
Belief in belonging is beautiful - but true inclusion grows when communities plant the seeds of access, support and opportunity. A world where all people truly belong isn’t just imagined - it’s intentionally built.
Our luncheon will feature a buffet lunch from Louise Gervais Fine Foods, a silent auction and a 50/50 draw for the luncheon. You will be able to purchase tickets online when you purchase your luncheon tickets or in person.
50/50 Draw is currently at $230 as of April 1st. Tickets will be available to purchase at luncheon. You do not need to be present to win.

The NSDRC was started by a group of families in 1976. In the years since, we have worked for a "Community for All" by developing and providing community housing, infant development programs, youth groups, community-based services, and information and advocacy.
We are grateful for the opportunity to work, live and play on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
